On September 22, Nam Can Tho University held the opening ceremony of the new school year, the 2023-2024 academic year, and welcomed 6,000 new students.

Mr. Duong Tan Hien, the Standing Vice Chairman of the Can Tho City People's Committee, praised the university's achievements over the past time, hoping that Nam Can Tho University will continue to improve the quality and effectiveness of educational activities and continue to promote the core values "Intellect, Creativity, Integration, and Development", while simultaneously actively contributing to the cause of fundamental and comprehensive innovation in education and training for the Mekong Delta region and the whole country.
For more than 10 years of operation, Nam Can Tho University has built a synchronous learning and training environment for students with full facilities, including lecture halls, function rooms, and sports areas. The university has trained over 10,000 graduates, providing human resources for Can Tho City and the Mekong Delta region.
In the 2023-2024 school year, the university had more than 23,500 students with forty-one undergraduate majors, six 6 master's majors, and one doctoral degree major. This year, the university has been granted permission to offer two new majors: Dentomaxillofacial and Preventive Medicine. At the same time, the university has spent nearly VND 12.6 billion in scholarships to reward students with excellent admission scores in 2023 admission, and more than VND 1 billion to reward students who have overcome difficulties and achieved academic excellence in all majors.
The university has been granted a Certificate of Educational Quality Accreditation by the Center for Educational Quality Accreditation, Hanoi National University (Cycle 2), and the UPM Institute of Innovation has granted the university a UPM four-star rating system certificate.
From 2020 to 2023, the university contributed 30.5 billion VND to volunteer activities in Can Tho City and the Mekong Delta provinces.
On this occasion, the university rewarded two new students (VND 15 million/student) who achieved valedictorian admission in 2023.
