Show Off Their Debating Skills
Debating is not only a skill but also an art. It requires logic, evidence, eloquence, and charisma. It also reveals one's views, perspectives, and personality. That's why the debate round of the Golden Mic DNC 2023 contest was a thrilling and challenging experience for the top 11 contestants.
A large number of contestants showed up to compete in
the Debate round of Golden Mic DNC 2023.
What is the Golden Mic DNC 2023 Contest?
The Golden Mic DNC 2023 contest is a popular competition for students who love public speaking and performing arts. It aims to discover and nurture new talents in the fields of journalism, communication, and entertainment.
The contest has four rounds: audition, debate, talent show, and finale. Each round tests different aspects of the contestants' abilities and potential.
The debate round is the second round of the contest. It took place on May 27, 2023 at Nam Can Tho University.
How Did the Debate Round Work?
The debate round was designed to assess the contestants' debating skills, creativity, problem-solving skills, and communication skills. These are essential skills that students need to adapt to the constant changes in the digital age.
The contestants were divided into two teams: Pros and Cons. They had to debate on various topics such as money, ChatGPT, LGBT, happiness, Teen, Can Tho, social network, tourism, indifference, existence, and stage halo.
The topics were chosen randomly by the jury. The contestants had 15 minutes to prepare their arguments and evidence before each debate.

The jury for this year's debate round included:
- Mrs. Hoang Thi Anh Tuyet, MA, Journalist, Lecturer at Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management.
- Mr. Nguyen Du Ha Long, MA, Lecturer at Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management.
- Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thanh Truc, MA, Deputy Head of Admission & Communication Office.
- Mr. Minh Toan, MC, Champion of Golden Mic DNC 2017.

On behalf of the Youth Union Party, the jury also included:
- Mrs. To Thi Ngoc Tram, MA, Deputy Head of Admission & Communication Office, Vice Secretary of Youth Union
- Mr. Nguyen Hoai Nhan, Member of Standing Committee of Youth Union, Deputy Head of Inspection Committee of Youth Union, Secretary of Youth Union of Faculty of Law
- Mr. Nguyen Thanh Sang, Member of Executive Committee of Youth Union, Deputy Secretary of Youth Union of Faculty of Architecture - Engineering and Environment
The jury evaluated the contestants based on their content, delivery, rebuttal, and teamwork.
What Were the Highlights of the Debate Round?
The debate round was full of excitement and suspense. The contestants showed their confidence, intelligence, and deep social knowledge in their arguments. They also used convincing evidence and examples to support their points.
Some of the debates were very heated and intense. The contestants challenged each other with sharp questions and counter-arguments. They also used humor and wit to win over the audience.
The jury praised the contestants for their careful preparation and presentation. They also gave constructive feedback and suggestions for improvement.
At the end of the round, the jury announced that all 11 contestants had passed to the next round. They also awarded "The best voice" prize to one contestant who had the most impressive performance in the debate round.

What's Next for the Contestants?
The contestants have successfully completed the debate round and moved on to the talent show round. This is where they will showcase their artistic abilities and talents.
The talent show round will take place on June 2, 2023 at Nam Can Tho University. It will be a spectacular and diverse show with singing, dancing, acting, magic, comedy, and more.
The contestants will have to impress not only the jury but also the audience with their talent and charisma.
