PROMOTING THE INVESTMENT ENVIRONMENT OF CAN THO TO MALAYSIAN INVESTORS

That was one of the tasks noted by Mr. Dinh Trung Truc, Vice Chairman of the Vietnamese Fatherland Front of Can Tho City, to the Vietnam - Malaysia Friendship Association of Can Tho at the Congress of Delegates 2023, for the 2023-2028 term, which took place on August 11, 2023.

The Association has made many positive contributions to promoting cooperation in the fields of education, training, science, and technology to enhance understanding, and cooperation, and strengthen the friendship between the two countries.

Mr. Dinh Trung Truc, Vice Chairman of the Vietnamese Fatherland Front of Can Tho City, and Mrs. Le Thi Thanh Giang, President of the Union of Friendship Organizations of Can Tho City, presented flowers to congratulate the Executive Board of the Vietnam - Malaysia Friendship Association for the term 2023 - 2028

The cooperative relationship between Nam Can Tho University and the Malaysia University of Science and Technology is prominent in implementing the joint training program for the Bachelor of Business Administration. This is also the first international joint program at Nam Can Tho University.

Dr. Nguyen Van Quang, Rector of Nam Can Tho University, said: “Since 2018 until now, Nam Can Tho University has cooperated with the Malaysia University of Science and Technology to enroll four courses with a total of approximately 130 students. At the beginning of February 2023, the two units held a ceremony to award Bachelor's degrees in Business Administration on the basis of joint training between the two universities for 28 students of course one. This is an event of special significance, marking the maturity on the path of students to establish themselves and establish a career."

According to Dr. Nguyen Van Quang, due to its high applicability and having a team of lecturers selected from successful business and management practices, upon completion of the course, students are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and good foreign language abilities, and are able to work immediately in domestic and international environments.

Furthermore, as a core force in promoting people-to-people friendship, the Vietnam - Malaysia Friendship Association in Can Tho City has always expanded cooperation and exchanges with many partners, agencies, and businesses of Malaysia, implementing cooperation and investment projects in fields such as culture, education, trade, and services in Can Tho City.

The Congress agreed that in the next term, the Association will continue to promote its role as a bridge to strengthen friendship activities and cultural exchanges, and closely combine foreign friendship activities with efforts to attract cooperation from Malaysia's investment and trade; in particular, strengthening cooperation in scientific and technological research, and cooperation in the exchange of experts.

The Congress elected the Executive Committee a new of nine members. Dr. Nguyen Van Quang, Rector of Nam Can Tho University, was elected President of the Vietnam - Malaysia Friendship Association in Can Tho City for the term of 2023-2028.

Mrs. Le Thi Thanh Giang, the President of the Union of Friendship Organizations of Can Tho City, presented the Certificate of Merit from the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations to the collectives and individuals of the Vietnam - Malaysia Friendship Association in Can Tho City

Speaking at the Congress, Mr. Dinh Trung Truc asked the Association's Executive Board to continue propagating and raising awareness among people and members, especially the younger generation of the two countries, about Vietnam-Malaysia relations. He also asked them to strengthen the introduction and promotion of the investment environment of Can Tho City to Malaysian businesses and investors, creating conditions for investors to understand more about the guidelines and policies of the Party and State towards Malaysia. He further asked them to actively coordinate with agencies, departments, and branches of Can Tho City to effectively implement cooperation agreements between Can Tho City and Malaysian partners.

At the Congress, the Vietnam - Malaysia Friendship Association in Can Tho City was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations and the Vietnamese Fatherland Front of Can Tho City for its many achievements in contributing to the success of the Vietnam-Malaysia Friendship Association and to people's foreign affairs for the 2018-2023 term.
