The Ministry of Education and Training held a workshop on "Joint training with foreign countries in the context of higher education autonomy" at Nam Can Tho University

DNC - On the morning of December 21, 2022, the Ministry of Education and Training held a workshop with the topic "Joint training with foreign countries in the context of higher education autonomy" at the Hall of the Multi-Functional Practice Area, Nam Can Tho University with the participation of nearly 300 delegates.

The program was chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Anh Dung - Deputy Director of the Higher Education Department and experts in university affairs, Quality Assurance Department, International Cooperation Department, and Higher Education Department. The participants were domestic and foreign scientists, teachers at a number of universities across the country, and leaders and lecturers of Nam Can Tho University.

Joint training with foreign countries is training cooperation between a higher education institution established in Vietnam and higher education institution abroad in order to implement a training program to grant a diploma or a certificate, but not form a new legal entity. The training association with foreign countries is responsible for ensuring compliance with the provisions of the Education Law and other relevant laws. A joint training program with a foreign country is a foreign program or a program jointly developed by the two parties.

The program took place with the first part being a Report on the implementation of joint training with foreign countries at higher education institutions in the context of university autonomy by the Representative of the Higher Education Department. Next were the presentations by universities: International University - Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, Dong A University, and Hanoi University of Civil Engineering. The workshop also spent a lot of time discussing the difficulties and obstacles when implementing programs of joint training with foreign countries and suggestions and recommendations to solve difficulties and problems as well as orienting regulations on enrollment and training for the programs.

Speaking at the workshop, Dr. Nguyen Van Quang - Rector of Nam Can Tho University shared: “Over the past years, Nam Can Tho University has promoted international links and cooperation with the US and Japan, New Zealand, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, etc...Many delegations such as Ambassador of New Zealand, Consul General of Japan, Consul General of the Philippines in Vietnam, US Ambassador of Science, Regis University (USA), Australian Institute of Trade and Technology (AIBT), International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), Tsukui Group (Japan), etc… visited and cooperated with the university. Nam Can Tho University has cooperated with the University of Science and Technology Malaysia (MUST) to train international bachelors in Business Administration at the Nam Can Tho University and Malaysia.

This is a program that inherits from universities in the US, UK, and Australia, so it can meet the global labor market, is highly applicable, and has a team of lecturers selected from real business, and successful administration. Through cooperation with foreign countries on training, Nam Can Tho University has created opportunities for students to exchange, study, and interact with foreign language environments. In addition, staff, lecturers, and students of Nam Can Tho University can also participate in learning, sharing teaching experiences, and academic exchanges through international seminars and exchange programs with foreign organizations. Nam Can Tho University is very honored to be selected by the Ministry of Education and Training as the host to organize the Workshop with the topic "Joint training with foreign countries in the context of higher education autonomy". This is an opportunity for the staff, lecturers, and students of the University to have the opportunity to learn and exchange experiences with domestic and foreign researchers, scientists, agencies, and businesses. active in the field of international cooperation and academic exchange.
