NAM CAN THO UNIVERSITY EXPANDS COOPERATION WITH BUSINESSES

 (SGTT) – After more than 10 years of establishment, Nam Can Tho University (DNC) has attracted approximately 23,500 students. In the near future, the university will continue to expand the "enterprise in university" model and cooperate with businesses so that graduates can easily find employment.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the school year on the morning of September 22, Dr. Lawyer Nguyen Tien Dung, Chairman of the University Council, said that this school year the DNC has recruited more than 6,000 students, including two new majors: Dentomaxillofacial and Preventive Medicine.

Thus, after more than 10 years of establishment, the DNC has attracted more than 23,500 students. The university offers forty-one regular university majors, six master's majors, and one doctoral major. It also offers transfer admissions, work-study programs, and a link with the Malaysian University of Science and Technology (MUST) to train international students in business administration.

According to Dr. Dung, the DNC has invested in perfecting facilities, equipment, teaching materials, laboratory tools, modern and synchronous learning, advanced curriculum, training services, and scientific research for the 4.0 era. Three new projects inaugurated in this school year were the DNC Software Development and Application Center, the DNC Multi-functional Sports Area, and the Sports Area to practice infantry combat techniques and tactics (for teaching purposes of the Faculty of National Defense and Security Education). The DNC has also been granted a Certificate of Educational Accreditation and a four-star rating system according to UPM standards in the education sector.

In international cooperation, the DNC is associating and cooperating with many institutes and universities in the United States, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Korea, and the Philippines in various forms of bilateral and multilateral cooperation in teaching and scientific research. For this school year, Dr. Nguyen Tien Dung said, the DNC will expand cooperation with dozens of domestic and foreign businesses and continue to develop the "enterprise in university" model, a pioneering model of the DNC which was also the topic of that DNC and Saigon Economic Magazine organized a seminar in July 2020.

Accordingly, the DNC has established businesses such as the Nam Mien Nam Group, the Nam Can Tho University Hospital Company Limited, the DNC Nam Can Tho One Member Trading Company Limited, the Institute of Medicine Plant Research and Development, the DNC Software Development and Application Center, and the DNC Health Science Research and Training Institute. This model has served to practically meet the practice and internship needs of DNC students, helping them perfect their skills, improve their abilities, and easily find jobs. It is a place to receive students’ work after graduation, and to help the DNC complete its training program to meet the needs of socio-economic development and international integration.

At this opening ceremony, many businesses also sponsored nearly VND 200 million for the DNC to provide scholarships to students in difficult circumstances. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Duong Tan Hien, Vice Chairman of the Can Tho City People's Committee, emphasized, "I always believe that Nam Can Tho University will continue to promote its core values of "Intellect, Creativity, Integration, and Development”, actively contributing to the cause of fundamental and comprehensive innovation in education and training for the Mekong Delta region and the whole country."
