NAM CAN THO UNIVERSITY RECEIVED THE PRIME MINISTER'S CERTIFICATE OF MERIT

On April 27, 2023, Nam Can Tho University (DNC) solemnly held a ceremony to receive the Prime Minister's Certificate of Merit and put into operation its English website.

As one of the top 21 educational institutions with international standards according to the three-star "University Performance Metrics" (UPM) matching ranking system, throughout 10 years of construction and development, DNC persistently implements the educational philosophy "Intellect - Creativity - Integration and Development" with the motto "Quality is the honor of the University", towards the mission of being a multi-disciplinary and multi-level high-quality human resource training institution from undergraduate to postgraduate level and has achieved breakthrough achievements, including human resource training for Can Tho City and other provinces in the Mekong Delta. When it was first established, the University was able to enroll six undergraduate majors, colleges, and professional intermediate. By 2022, the University develops multi-disciplinary, and multi-level training with thirty-eight undergraduate majors; six master's level; one doctoral training; enrolling students from intermediate schools, colleges to universities, majoring in pharmacy; recruiting and training at the undergraduate level in medical testing, medical imaging techniques by the in-service system. In addition, affiliated with the Malaysia University of Science and Technology (MUST) to train international bachelors in Business Administration at the University and in Malaysia.

The first enrollment course (course I) had more than 650 students; Course II enrolled more than 1,000 students. In the following years, the number of new students recruited increased, especially in the 10-year academic year 2022-2023, the University enrolled more than 5,900 students. In addition, the University has also recruited more students at the master's level, the transfer system, and the in-service system. After nearly 10 years of operation, DNC has enrolled in 10 courses. Currently, there are more than 19,500 students studying at the University. Over the past time, the University has granted diplomas to nearly 8,000 people including masters, bachelors, engineers,…More than 95% of students and graduates got jobs; contributing intellectually to the development of Can Tho City and the Southern provinces.

The University perfected the organizational structure, management apparatus, and permanent lecturers to meet the teaching and scientific research requirements of thousands of students. DNC is evaluated as a university with spacious facilities, modern equipment, outstanding green - clean - beautiful campus among Universities in the Mekong Delta, meeting the quality accreditation standards of the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam.

In particular, DNC is one of the pioneering educational institutions in building business models in universities. The University has established enterprises and institutes such as Nam Mien Nam Group, Nam Can Tho University Medical Center, Nam Can Tho Trading Company, and Research and Development Institute of Medicinal Plants, to serve the needs of practice - internship for students. Young people have the opportunity to interact with reality, contribute to perfecting and improving their skills, as well as being a place to receive students to work after graduation.

The University established the Student Support and Business Cooperation Center, which plays an important role in supporting students to participate in training programs and helping students solve difficult problems in study and life. The Center is also the focal point in business relations activities, and skills training, helping students approach and integrate quickly with businesses.

With these achievements, the Prime Minister awarded the Certificate of Merit to Nam Can Tho University and two individuals are Dr.-Lawyer Nguyen Tien Dung (University Council Chairman) and Dr. Nguyen Van Quang (Secretary of the Party Committee and Rector of the University).

On this occasion, the University officially launched the English version of the website at https://en.nctu.edu.vn/. Dr. Nguyen Van Quang - Rector of DNC, said: “In the inevitable trend of globalization and international integration in education, over the past time, DNC has had many cooperation programs in training and academic exchange; scientific research, implementation of projects to exchange students, lecturers, and practical training programs between the university and universities of many other countries,...In order to increase convenience for international cooperation, especially for international customers and partners accessing and searching for information about Nam Can Tho University, the university launched the English version of the DNC website. Putting the English website into operation is the next step in the process of innovating, perfecting, and expanding international cooperation in the field of training, and applied scientific research for lecturers and students of the University".
