On August 10, 2023, Nam Can Tho University hosted a delegation of Can Tho officials led by Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu, a member of the Central Executive Committee of the Party and the Secretary of Can Tho Party Committee. The visit was part of the officials’ efforts to learn about the higher education sector and to support the university’s development.

 

 

The University’s representatives included:

  • Dr. Nguyen Tien Dung, Chairman of the University Council and Nam Can Tho University Medical Center;
  • Prof. Dr. Vo Tong Xuan, Honorary Rector of the university;
  • Dr. Nguyen Van Quang, Party Secretary and the Rector of the university;
  • Leaders of various Faculties, departments, and centers.

During the meeting, Dr. Nguyen Van Quang presented a report on the university’s achievements and challenges in the past 10 years. He emphasized that the university has:

  • Modern facilities, dedicated and highly qualified lecturers, and quality training that is confirmed through annual assessments.
  • Promoted international cooperation and exchange, scientific document exchange, and scientific research activities among lecturers and students.
  • Pioneered in building an enterprise model in schools, which has improved skills, enhanced expertise, and helped students find jobs after graduation.
  • Achieved a certificate of quality accreditation (cycle 2) by the Center for Education Quality Accreditation - Vietnam National University Hanoi and was ranked 4 stars by UPM Innovation Institute.
  • Expected to have a student scale of 23,000 by 2024.
  • In recognition of its social responsibility and mission, the university strives to enhance its service provision to the community of Can Tho City and the Mekong Delta region in various domains. These encompass education consultancy, career guidance, language training, health care, resort tourism, and more. The university employs its expertise and resources to offer high-quality and accessible services to the community.

 

Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu expressed his appreciation for the university’s efforts and contributions to Can Tho City in particular and Mekong Delta region in general. He said that the city will need a large source of high-quality human resources in the future as it shifts its economic structure towards industrial-construction development, trade-service, and high technology. He hoped that Nam Can Tho University will continue to innovate and standardize a modern school model that meets international quality accreditation standards and promotes scientific research activities.

Nam Can Tho University also shared its plans to complete phase 2 infrastructure and projects such as: university urban area, nursing home, eco-tourism zone, DNC Health Science Research and Training Institute.

The visit was a meaningful occasion for both sides to strengthen their cooperation and mutual support. It also demonstrated their commitment and vision to develop education as a key factor for socio-economic development in the region.
