Nam Can Tho University Launches Summer Volunteer Campaign 2023 and Celebrates 10th Traditional DNC Sports Festival

On June 7, Nam Can Tho University held a ceremony to launch the Summer Volunteer Campaign 2023 and to celebrate the 10th Traditional DNC Sports Festival. The event was attended by students, faculty, staff, and representatives from local authorities and organizations.

Summer Volunteer Campaign 2023: Serving the Community with Passion and Dedication

The Summer Volunteer Campaign 2023 is organized by the Youth Union - Student Association of the school to commemorate the 133rd anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh, and to celebrate the 3rd Congress of the Vietnam Student Association of Nam Can Tho University. The campaign aims to:

• Provide a practical environment for youth union members and young people to show their youthfulness, training, aspiration to dedicate;
• Demonstrate the spirit of pioneering, proactive, creative, leading of young people in serving the community;
• Enhance the spirit of volunteerism in young people and students and encourage them to become active citizens, contributing to the development and creating more value for society.

The campaign will take place at various fronts in Can Tho, Kien Giang, Hau Giang, An Giang, Ca Mau, Dong Thap, Ben Tre with many meaningful and practical tasks such as:

• Repairing 20km of traffic roads;
• Repairing 2 houses of Great Unity for poor households;
• Building 5 works "For a beautiful school for you";
• Giving 140 gifts to policy families, former TNXP, children;
• Building 5 new playgrounds for children from recycled materials;
• Planting 200 trees;
• Rural road lighting project.

Mrs. To Thi Ngoc Tram - Deputy Head of Admission and Communication Office, Vice Secretary of the Youth Union, President of the Student Association of Nam Can Tho University delivered a speech at the launching ceremony. She said:

“That we are living in a challenging and difficult time, where people need to unite and help each other overcome.”

She also expressed her confidence and pride in the young people and students of Nam Can Tho University, who will be the pioneers, the ones who bring positive change and build a better community. She encouraged them to spread the spirit of love and willingness to help, and to contribute positively to society and homeland.

10th Traditional DNC Sports Festival: Celebrating Sportsmanship and Solidarity

The Youth Union - Student Association also organized the closing ceremony of the 10th Traditional DNC Sports Festival. The festival took place from April 24 to July 6 with the participation of 10 units under including 9 faculty unions and 1 department union. The teams competed in 10 events: Men's and women's soccer, men's and women's volleyball, basketball, athletics, tug-of-war, swimming, tennis, table tennis. Along with that is the Vovinam Student DNC Competition.

The results of the whole delegation are as follows:

• First prize for the whole delegation - Faculty of Economics.
• Second prize for the whole delegation - Faculty of Medicine.
• Third prize for the whole delegation - Faculty of Pharmacy.

The festival was a success in promoting physical health, sportsmanship, and solidarity among students and staff of Nam Can Tho University.
