HAS ACQUIRED EDUCATION QUALITY ACCREDITATION

On June 22, 2023, Nam Can Tho University (DNC) solemnly held a ceremony to announce the Certificate of Education Accreditation (Education Accreditation - Cycle 2) and to receive the Four-star University Performance Metrics (UPM).

Attending the meeting were Prof. Dr. Banh Tien Long, the former Permanent Deputy Minister of Education and Training and the Head of the External Evaluation Team; Dr. Ta Thi Thu Hien, the Director of the Center for Accreditation of Education Quality at Hanoi National University; leaders from Hau Giang Province and Can Tho City over the periods, as well as leaders from the Department of Education and Training, offices, departments, units of Can Tho City, and other provinces in the Mekong Delta,...

On the basis of meeting the conditions prescribed by the Ministry of Education and Training, the Center for Accreditation of Education Quality at Hanoi National University has granted the Certificate of Educational Quality Accreditation (Cycle 2), and the UPM Institute for Innovation has granted the Certificate of UPM 4-star for DNC to ensure that certain standards are achieved in training, to continuously improve and increase training quality, and to meet the requirements of human resource users, with benefits for learners guaranteed.

The UPM is a star rating ranking of the UPM Innovation Institute under the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations. UPM has eight standards with fifty-two criteria, the evaluation criteria being built according to the quality assessment approach and adapted to the Industrial Revolution 4.0. UPM both manages the system's overall database and provides a tool for educational institutions to use to measure and compare their adaptability to Industry 4.0 and their capacity for training, research, and innovation as the basis for the formulation of development investment strategies. This benchmarking ranking system for excellence in higher education quality has more than one hundred educational institutions and training programs in eight countries such as Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, Myanmar, Brunei, Taiwan, and the United States participating. Nam Can Tho University achieved the overall result at the four-star application-oriented level with 560/1,000 points, in which three out of eight standards such as Strategic Orientation, University Campus, and Community Service received five-star together.

Dr. Ta Thi Thu Hien, the Director of the Center for Accreditation of Education Quality at Hanoi National University, commented: “Within five years, starting from 2018, DNC has achieved the quality accreditation of educational institutions in Cycle 1, Cycle 2, and 12/44 training programs of the university were accredited. This result shows the high determination of the university's leaders and the great efforts of the staff and lecturers of the university in the activities of ensuring accreditation of education. The process towards comprehensive quality and building a quality culture of Nam Can Tho University is reflected in many activities, especially the quality assurance conditions that are improved based on the needs of learners and the labor market and are trusted and satisfied by learners and businesses. The second cycle of the education quality accreditation certificate is a milestone, not a final destination, but also a motivation and challenge for DNC to continue to improve quality, to have breakthrough solutions to continue to improve quality and DNC brand to new heights; commensurate with the good tradition of the university.”

After 10 years of construction, DNC is a university with spacious facilities, modern equipment, and a green, clean, and beautiful campus, outstanding among universities in the Mekong Delta. Enrollment at the university has continuously increased over the years. The university has enrolled 10 courses with a training scale of more than 19,000 students. Students are studying at the university with 41 majors at the Bachelor and Engineer levels, 6 majors at the Master's level, and 1 Doctoral degree. The university has granted diplomas to more than 8,000 learners, including Masters, Bachelors, Engineers,… More than 95% of graduates have jobs. The human resources trained by the university are contributing significantly to the development of Can Tho City in particular and the Mekong Delta provinces in general.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Nguyen Van Quang, Rector of DNC, sincerely expressed: "The accreditation of education quality is the basis for improving the university's training quality, ensuring the interests of learners, and cooperating and investing in education and training in a competitive educational environment today, especially towards making DNC one of the prestigious universities in the region and internationally. Based on the results of education quality accreditation, the university has a basis to identify strengths and weaknesses to build a plan to improve and increase the quality of education. On that basis, the university sets goals to strive for such as building and perfecting the structure of training disciplines and training programs, continuing to innovate teaching methods, and managing training in the direction of standardization, modernization, and international integration. The training program is improved in the direction of providing basic knowledge, synthesis, and modern skills, approaching regional and international standards. Oriented to 2027, the university will conduct 100% accreditation of its training programs.”
