Nam Can Tho University Achieves 4-Star Rating in UPM Benchmarking System

A prestigious recognition of quality and excellence in education

Nam Can Tho University (DNC) is proud to announce that it has been rated 4 stars according to the applied orientation by the UPM University Quality Benchmarking System. This is a prestigious recognition of DNC’s quality and excellence in education, research and community service.

The UPM system is a ranking system that compares the level of excellence of education quality among more than 100 educational institutions and training programs from 8 countries: Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Myanmar, Brunei, Taiwan and the United States. The system evaluates 8 criteria and 52 indicators, covering aspects such as Strategic Orientation, Teaching And Learning, Research, Innovation, Campus Facilities, Student Support, Internationalization and Community Service.

The UPM system helps higher education institutions identify and manage strategic goals, and aim to achieve the top 100 standards of Asian universities. Many criteria are linked to the standards of research-oriented universities stipulated in Decree 99/2019/ND-CP of Vietnam guiding the implementation of the Higher Education Law.

With this approach, the UPM system not only covers quality accreditation but also recognizes the excellence of schools. The comparative ranking based on quantitative assessment not only shows the strengths and weaknesses of a university but also supports comparison and identification of university quality comprehensively. Based on the evaluation results, the UPM system assigns from 1 to 5 stars of quality according to each specific field and overall of each school depending on the research or applied orientation.

DNC’s outstanding performance in 3 fields

DNC achieved an overall result of 4 stars according to the applied orientation with 560/1000 points. In which, 3/8 fields on Strategic Orientation; Campus and Community Service all achieved 5 stars.

The 5-star rating in Strategic Orientation reflects DNC’s clear vision, mission and values, as well as its effective governance and management system. The rating also acknowledges DNC’s alignment with national policies and priorities, as well as its responsiveness to social needs and market demands.

The 5-star rating in Campus reflects DNC’s investment in infrastructure, equipment, practice laboratories, electronic library, computer room, teaching materials and modern learning facilities to serve training and scientific research. The rating also recognizes DNC’s efforts to create a safe, healthy and conducive environment for students and staff.

The 5-star rating in Community Service reflects DNC’s commitment to social responsibility and civic engagement. The rating also highlights DNC’s contributions to regional development, environmental sustainability and cultural diversity.
