On June 16, 2023, the final night of Golden Mic DNC - The host of the seventh, 2023 took place at the auditorium of Nam Can Tho University. It was a night of talent, passion and enthusiasm of DNC students who showcased their skills in the field of MC.

How the Contest Worked

Golden Mic DNC is an annual contest that aims to discover and nurture the potential of students who have a passion for hosting and public speaking.

To find the best host for this year’s contest, the organizers and judges set different criteria for each round, thereby assessing the talent, sharp thinking and stage courage of the contestants.

The contest consisted of four rounds: preliminary, quarter-final, semi-final and final. Each round had a different theme and format, such as introducing yourself, interviewing a guest, debating a topic or delivering a speech.

Overcoming the preliminary round and the sub-rounds very convincingly, 11 best contestants out of more than 100 applicants entered the final round of Golden Mic DNC - The host of the seventh, 2023.

The jury of Golden Mic DNC this year consisted of:

Mr. Tong Kim Son, MA – Assoc. Dean of Department of Public Relations & Student Affairs, DNC
Ms. Hoang Thi Anh Tuyet, MA - Journalist, Vietnam News Agency
MC Minh Nhat - Expert in training hosts
Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thanh Truc, MBA - Vice Head of Admission & Communication Office, Member of BTV Youth Union, Secretary of Youth Union of Tourism Faculty & English Department.

They followed and evaluated the contestants from a professional perspective with fairness to choose the Top 3 winners of Golden Mic DNC in the final night.

What the Contestants Did

In the final round, the contestants had very neat and attractive performances with the parts: leading duo, leading solo and oratory.

Each contestant had their own qualities, captivating lead and confident expression style, full of energy. In addition, after being guided by the coaches, the contestants improved their voice, emotion, fluency and confidence a lot more than before.

The leading duo part required the contestants to work in pairs and introduce a topic or an event in an engaging way. The leading solo part tested the contestants’ ability to host a show or a program on their own. The oratory part challenged the contestants to deliver a persuasive speech on a given topic.

The topics ranged from social issues to cultural values to personal stories. The contestants had to demonstrate their knowledge, creativity and charisma in presenting their views and opinions.

Who Won

Through tense rounds, the jury found Top 3 talented contestants who possessed all elements of voice quality, courage and style of an MC.

Here are the winners:

Champion: Lam Ngoc Yen, 2^nd year student of Public Relations.
Second prize: Phan Nguyen Hoang Quyen, 1^st year student of Medical Field.
Third prize: Nguyen Thanh Phong, 2^nd year student of Law.
Honorable prize: Trieu Quang Qui, 1^st year student of Multimedia Communication.

3rd Winner: Nguyen Thanh Phong

Honorable Mention: Trieu Quang Qui

The champion received a trophy, a certificate and a cash prize of 2 million VND. The second and third prize winners received certificates and cash prizes of 1.5 million VND and 1 million VND respectively. The encouragement prize winner received a certificate and a cash prize of a half of million VND.

In addition, there were also sub-prizes for contestants who had enthusiastic spirit as well as proved their efforts and efforts in the past time at Golden Mic DNC - The host contest VII, 2023:

Talent Contestant Award: Truong Thi Tuyet Nhi, 2^nd year student of Management.
Contestant with Voice of Emotion Award: Trieu Quang Qui, 1^st year student of Multimedia Communication.
Most Favorite Contestant Award: Nguyen Nhu Huynh, 1^st year student of Tourism and Travel Services Management.

These sub-prize winners received certificates and gifts from the sponsors.

Why It Matters

Through Golden Mic DNC - The host contest VII, 2023, it was an opportunity for contestants to have a learning environment, practice, improve skills and be more confident in life.

From there, they opened a new door to help them get closer to their dream, pursue their passion for becoming a professional MC.

Nam Can Tho University has been and will always create conditions and expand many useful cultural playgrounds to help students develop comprehensively.
