JOURNEY OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AND INNOVATION

1. Introduction

Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Nam Can Tho University was established under Decision No. 43/QD-CTHĐQT-ĐHNCT dated December 28, 2013, by the President of the University Council, with the goal of “Training technical and technological human resources for the development of the Mekong Delta region", the Faculty of Engineering and Technology has gradually built up a team, developed facilities and participated in scientific research among lecturers and students.

As one of the first training management units of Nam Can Tho University since its establishment, the Faculty of Engineering and Technology has managed many majors such as Environmental Engineering, Food Technology, Information Technology, and so on. Currently, the Faculty of Engineering and Technology trains in 02 majors, including Food Technology and Chemical Engineering Technology, with the motto of training students in the direction of application, satisfying human resources in the area.

2. Functions and tasks

The Faculty of Engineering and Technology of Nam Can Tho University has the functions of training, scientific research, and technology transfer in the fields that professions the faculty is in charge of.

With the mission of undertaking the training of human resources in food technology and chemical engineering technology, the Faculty of Engineering and Technology performs the task of training high-quality human resources; participates in scientific research, transferring technology for the cause of socio-economic development of Can Tho city and the region to develop the capacity of the teaching staff and the quality of the trained students. In addition, managing the teaching staff, and affiliated staff, and coordinating with functional departments is also an important task of the Faculty of Science and Technology in order to orient the development of the university's core human resources, helping the whole university, make progress together, build a healthy working environment together, all staff and lecturers can develop their own capacity.

4. Activities

On the path of nearly 10 years of development, the Faculty of Engineering and Technology has also tried to complete the assigned tasks, specifically as follows:

- Coordinating with the Department of Academic Affairs to organize teaching and training for students in the majors managed by the Faculty.

- Organizing scientific conferences at the Faculty level, and contributing scientific articles to domestic and international journals. Many textbooks and lectures have been accepted and have sent many staff members to study for Master’s and participate in courses, skills training, and professional improvement to serve the Faculty better in the future.

- Completed the training program accreditation in Information Technology in 2021, and Food Technology in January 2023.

- Participating in enrollment counseling support is also one of the activities focused on by the Faculty to develop the school's scale and contribute to building a strong Nam Can Tho University.

- Guiding and supporting students as homeroom lecturers is also a regular activity of faculty members of the Faculty. The Faculty regularly organizes events and extracurricular activities to create a useful and healthy playground for learners, support students with important soft skills, and help the Faculty ensure the quality of training is always at a developmental level thrive.

5. Development Orientation

In the next phase, the Faculty of Engineering and Technology will focus on training human resources in the direction of application; continue to supplement and adjust the training program, and train and foster staff and lecturers to better satisfy the teaching and scientific research work of the unit. The Faculty will strive to be recognized as an excellent labor collective; continue to improve the quality of training, and pay attention to the training of staff, lecturers, and students.
