DNC Drama Contest 2023 
A Night of Wonder and Magic

On June 13, the auditorium (Hall D) of Nam Can Tho University was transformed into a wonderland of fairy tales and legends, thanks to the amazing performances of the students of the English major. The final night of the DNC Drama Contest 2023 was a spectacular and unforgettable event that showcased the talents and passion of young actors who performed English plays based on classic stories.

The Theme: Lost in Wonderland

The theme of the contest was “Lost in Wonderland”, inspired by the childhood stories that everyone loves and remembers. The teams created their own versions of the stories, expressing their personality and creativity while preserving the values and messages of the original tales. The plays took the audience on a journey through a world full of magic and mystery, from East to West, bringing laughter, joy and nostalgia.

The Performances: A Feast for the Eyes and Ears

The final night featured four teams from four English classes, each presenting a different play:

• English class 01: “Red Riding Hood”, a humorous twist on the classic tale of a girl and a wolf. The team made the audience laugh with their witty dialogue, hilarious expressions and funny costumes. They also added some surprises to the plot, like friendly hunter, a hilarious wolf and a young-loving grandmother.

• English class 02: “Sleeping Beauty”, a romantic and emotional rendition of the story of a princess cursed by an evil fairy. The team moved the audience with their beautiful acting, singing and dancing. They also added some twists to the plot, such as a brave prince, a jealous witch and musical fairies.

• English class 03: “Son Tinh, Thuy Tinh”, a dramatic adaptation of the Vietnamese legend of the mountain god and the water god. The team impressed the audience with their powerful acting, stunning effects and authentic costumes. They also added some elements to the plot, such as meme song “Pháo - 2 Phút Hơn”, a wise king and a tragic love story.

• English class 02: “Cinderella”, a modern and lively version of the story of a girl who finds her prince with the help of a fairy godmother. The team entertained the audience with their energetic acting, catchy songs and colorful costumes. They also added some updates to the plot, such as sassy stepsisters, a handsome and magical prince, an adorable and funny companion.

The teams amazed the audience with their excellent acting skills, musical performance, sound and light effects, and beautiful costumes. The stage was decorated with elaborate backgrounds and props that created a dreamy and captivating atmosphere. The plays offered a rich and diverse artistic experience for the audience, ranging from comedy to tragedy, from fantasy to reality.

The Results: A Celebration of Talent and Passion

After an exciting and entertaining night, the judges announced the results of the contest:

• Champion: English class 02 with “Sleeping Beauty”
• 1^st Runner-up: English class 02 with “Cinderella”
• 2^nd Runner-up: English class 03 with “Son Tinh, Thuy Tinh”
• Consolation prize: English class 01 with “Red Riding Hood”

The winners received trophies, certificates and prizes from the organizers and sponsors. The judges praised the teams for their outstanding performance, creativity, emotion and language skills. They also thanked all the participants for their hard work and dedication to drama and English.

The Conclusion: A Success Story

The DNC Drama Contest 2023 was a resounding success that left a lasting impression on everyone involved. The contest not only provided great entertainment for the audience, but also demonstrated the love and passion of the students for drama and English.
