CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERING
1. INTRODUCTION
The Department of Civil Engineering (Construction Engineering) belongs to the Faculty of Architecture - Construction and Environment. Construction engineering is a branch of engineering related to planning, construction, supervision, design, acceptance and management of civil and industrial construction works such as office buildings, working offices, commercial centers, schools, hospitals, apartments, office buildings, factories, industrial parks, pre-assembled and semi-assembled works, residential projects, etc. Construction projects and construction works require specialized knowledge in engineering and in the field of construction in order to meet the actual needs of human resources for today's society.
2. TRAINING OBJECTIVES
The Civil Engineering Engineer training program at Nam Can Tho University aims to train and equip students with knowledge and skills as follows:
- Well-equipped with basic knowledge of civil and industrial construction, necessary professional knowledge, proficient professional practice skills, and ability to design, organize and manage the construction of all kinds of civil and industrial construction works; have the professional ability in architecture, estimating, geodesy, foundation and iris treatment, structure, water supply, and drainage, etc.
- Understanding the work of a construction engineer outside the construction site or in the laboratory, helping students learn and know the ability to meet the job after graduation. Being aware of the responsibility for the profession to be done in the future, the importance of construction, and supervision.
- Having good political and moral qualities, knowledge and professional skills, self-study, self-research, creativity and can work in many different fields. such as design, construction, supervision consultant, management of construction works, scientific and technological research in construction research institutes, teaching staff in colleges and universities, and intermediate in the field of construction.
- Solving the requirements, theoretical and practical problems of construction, be able to adapt to the working environment, self-adapting for lifelong learning, having a sense of service to the people, as well - equipped with more professional skills; soft skills (communication skills, negotiation skills, negotiation...); skills in using English and computer software in daily work.
3. JOB OPPORTUNITIES
After graduating from the Civil Engineering at Nam Can Tho University, students will be awarded an Architect degree, able to work in many specific positions as follows:
- Staff at governmental organizations, department of infrastructure economics, the design staff at institutes of architecture, department of Construction,…
- Construction engineers participating in the stage of site survey, location, work geology, the preliminary design phase, designing construction drawings, ensuring and controlling the quality of works; consulting, supervising, and checking input quality of materials, quality of concrete, making and monitoring construction progress of works or construction projects. In addition, the construction engineer, as a valuation engineer, is also responsible for dissecting the estimated volume, making and evaluating the work price in order to provide cost data for the entire project, and preparing bidding and bidding documents for each construction work or investment project.
- Experts in the project management board, other organizations with capital construction investment, experts in administrative agencies with state management of capital construction.
- Researchers and teaching staff in other areas. research institutes, universities, or training institutions in the field of construction.
- Technical staff, supervisors at enterprises and organizations related to the construction industry, and scientific researchers in construction research institutes.
4. QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING TIME
- Students after graduating from Construction Engineering at DNC will receive a degree in Civil Engineering Engineer.
- Training duration: 4 years (equivalent to 8 semesters)
- Total credits: 151 credits (excluding Physical Education and Defense - Security Education modules).
