Conference to establish the Club of Faculties - Institutes - School of Information & Communication Technology in the Mekong Delta

On the morning of February 18, 2023, the Conference on the establishment of the Information & Communication Technology (ICT) Club in the Mekong Delta (referred to as FISU, Mekong Delta) was held at the School of Information & Communication Technology - Can Tho University (CTU).

The conference welcomed the presence of Prof.Dr. Nguyen Thanh Thuy, President of  Vietnam FISU; Assoc.Prof. Bui Thu Lam, General Secretary of Vietnam FISU; Dr. Nguyen Long, Vice Chairman, General Secretary of Vietnam Informatics Association; Dr. Nguyen Quang Vu, Head of Science and Technology Department - International Cooperation, Vietnam - Korea School of ICT - University of Da Nang, FISU representative in the Central and Highlands; Mr. Duong The Dung - Chairman of Can Tho Informatics Association; representatives from faculties, institutes and ICT schools of the Mekong Delta.

On the side of Nam Can Tho University, MSc. Nguyen Van Linh, Deputy Dean of Faculty of Information Technology, represented the University to attend the conference.

FISU Mekong Delta Executive Committee for the 1st term

With the desire to be a place to gather, connect, orient and share on training and research, FISU Mekong Delta was established so that units can have a common voice in training and research activities in the field of ICT, bringing legitimate benefits to members, contributing positively to the community and society, contributing to bringing Vietnam on par with great power countries on ICT in the world.

The Conference elected the FISU Mekong Delta Executive Committee for  the first term consisting of 14 members representing faculties, institutes, ICT schools in the Mekong Delta region led by Dr. Nguyen Huu Hoa, Rector of ICT School - CTU as Chairman.

Speaking at the Conference, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Thuy, President of FISU Vietnam, said that in the past time, FISU Vietnam has made positive contributions to national education, bringing the position of the ICT industry more and more enhanced. Prof. Dr. Thuy hoped that with the current ICT development, FISU Mekong Delta will contribute to the development and orientation for human resource training, attracting and retaining good human resources.

Dr. Nguyen Huu Hoa, Rector of ICT School - CTU, President of FISU  Mekong Delta shared that this important event is not only an opportunity for the faculties, instututes, ICT schools to cooperate and share experiences and knowledge but also a solid step forward for socio-economic development in the Mekong Delta. Dr. Hoa thanked the units for accompanying them to support the establishment of the club, and affirmed that FISU Mekong Delta will bring into full play all its strengths to turn ICT into one of the top fields of concern in the Mekong Delta.

Speaking at the conference, MSc. Nguyen Van Linh shared about the business model in university in Nam Can Tho University, including DNC Software Development and Application Center, and proposed some solutions on cooperation in training, science and technology transfer in FISU Mekong Delta.

At the conference, the MOU signing ceremony between 12 faculties, institutes and schools of ICT in the Mekong Delta was  also held, this important event will support FISU Mekong Delta Club to operate effectively, jointly develop on the basis of cooperation in training high-quality human resources, exchange and learn professional experiences between units, creating a premise for the outstanding development of ICT in region.
