Prof Vo Tong Xuan - Rector of Nam Can Tho University received two awards from the Philippine University of Agriculture

On the 50th Traditional Day of Philippine Agricultural University Alumni Association (October 10), Prof Vo Tong Xuan -Rector of Southern Can Tho University was awarded two awards "Best Golden Jubilarian Alumni" and "Excellent Alumni in Rice Engineering".

of the 50th Traditional Day of the Philippine Agricultural University Alumni Association (October 10).

Prof Vo Tong Xuan graduated from University of Agrochemistry in 1967, he is an alumnus of the Philippine Agricultural University, which was established in 1908 in Los Banos, a small village at the foot of Makiling mountain range, located 65 km away south of the Philippine capital Manila.

Every year, the University in collaboration with the Alumni Association solemnly organizes this holiday and invites all alumni from everywhere to attend. It is known that the October 10 Traditional Holiday of the Philippine University of Agriculture is also affectionately known as "Loyalty Day" , this is a special holiday of the University to honor the individuals  person who has made many outstanding contributions to society and humanity, is an alumnus of the University who graduated in the 25th or 50th year from the year of the celebration.

Alumni Vo Tong Xuan's 50th Anniversary Commemoration Board has a sentence: With his many contributions to local and international agriculture as a teacher, researcher, extension officer and manager, combining his knowledge of farming systems and crop production in the Mekong Delta, he contributed to increase the rice production that turned Vietnam from a rice importer to an second largest rice exporter in the world. He is the recipient of many national and international awards including: Asia's "Ramon Magsaysay" award; Medal "Agricultural Cavalry" of France; "Evidence in Recognition of Dedication and Contribution to World Science" by the Prime Minister of Canada, the "Derek Tribe" Award Crawford Australian Academy of Science and Technology, the "D. L Umlali" Award from the Philippines and Japan's "Nikkei Asia" Award for Regional Growth. He has also been awarded two noble titles of Vietnam as "Labor Hero" and "People's Teacher".

This is also known as a day of gratitude and reunion, for thousands of former students of many generations of the University to return every year to meet, visit, share each other's progress, meet again with teachers have guided and taught students to study to become useful people and dedicate themselves to serving humanity.
