NAM CAN THU UNIVERSITY SUCCESSFULLY DEFENDED CITY LEVEL SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH PROJECT IN 2020-2021

On the afternoon of April 22, 2020, the delegation of Nam Can Tho University led by Prof Vo Tong Xuan, Rector, as the head of the delegation, successfully defended the task of Science and Technology Name: "Application of transferring the model of organic Hoang De mushroom (Calocybe indica) organic cultivation and developing vegetarian dried beef products in combination with sightseeing tours in Vinh Long city".

On the basis of the Hoang De mushroom growing model, invested in two pagodas, Ngoc Xa Loi Buddha Pagoda (Vinh Hoa Hamlet, Tan Ngai Commune, Vinh Long City) and Hoi Duc Pagoda (Tan Quoi Dong Hamlet, Truong An Ward, Vinh Long City), the project consists of 3 basic contents: Building and perfecting the model of Hoang De mushroom organic farming and combining spiritual tourism; Developing vegetarian dried beef products from Hoang De mushrooms and Training and transferring techniques of growing Hoang De mushrooms to households in Vinh Long City. The role is apply new technology of two model of cultivating Hoang De mushrooms suitable to the natural and economic conditions of the local area. The results of the project are the production process of Hoang De mushroom and vegetarian beef dried with high technology application in the direction of organic, creating safe products for humans. The model is invested in the pagodas, when the product is created in combination with spiritual tourism, both to introduce typical vegetarian products and to bring operating funds for the pagodas and the product becomes a commodity as gifts for Buddhists and tourists to visit the pagodas. This is a new topic for organic production of Hoang De mushrooms and dried vegetarian beef from Hoang De mushrooms in order to take advantage of agricultural by-products (such as rice bran, rice straw, bagasse, cornstarch) and apply high-tech techniques. The topic meets both scientific and practical significance in line with the development orientation of Vinh Long city, concluded Mr. Nguyen Thanh Ha, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee - Chairman of the Council in the appraisal meeting.

The meeting ended on the same day and the appraisal council approved and agreed for Nam Can Tho University to assume the prime responsibility for implementing the above-mentioned Science and Technology tasks with funding from the Science and Technology Budget of Vinh Long City, Dr. Tran Thanh Thy, the head of the topic, shared information about the assessment of the Science and Technology Task Profile.
