CENTER FOR TRAINING GRADUATE OUTCOME STANDARDS AND HUMAN RESOURCES DEVELOPMENT

1. INTRODUCTION

The Center for Training Graduate Outcome Standards and Human Resources Development was established in accordance with Decision No. 23/QD-CTHDQT-ĐHNCT dated June 25, 2015, by the Chairman of the University Council of Nam Can Tho University (NCTU).

2. FUNCTIONS AND MISSIONS

2.1 Functions

The Center for Training Graduate Outcome Standards and Human Resources Development supplies flexible training courses in informatics, foreign Languages, soft skills, and vocational skills for students according to each discipline with highly socialized and convenient services so as to help them improve these skills after graduation.

2.2 Missions

Investigating and compiling statistics on the learning needs of informatics, foreign languages, soft skills, and vocational skills in order to propose plans for opening courses to the University Rectorate Board. Organizing training and retraining courses in basic and advanced information technology application, English and TOEIC revision, soft skills, and vocational skills according to NCTU output standards.

Conducting examinations and granting certificates to students attending the certificate training programs of the center in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, as well as being responsible for foreign language services such as translation and interpretation, or information technology services such as programming and installing software.

English Language Major and English Department, which are under the administration of the center, make training programs and outlines for English majors, and adjust them every two years according to suggestions from employers, alumni, and lecturers. English Department is assigned to compile lectures and textbooks of English language majors and specialized English subjects, do scientific research and technology transfer to satisfy the needs of teaching English language students, guide students to do scientific research, graduation theses, graduate internships, design practical programs and subjects for students majoring in English, participate in writing domestic and foreign scientific journals, perform other tasks such as teaching, problem-solving and marking exams as assigned.

Organizing monthly English clubs so that students can have fun and be motivated to improve their English communication skills.

Participating in annual admission events of NCTU.

Performing other duties as directed.

4. ACTIVITIES

- Successfully organizing classes in English, informatics, soft skills, vocational skills, and examinations of the output of standard certification courses according to the general regulations of the University.

- Successfully accomplishing foreign affairs missions which are translating, interpreting, and participating in international seminars between NCTU and foreign organizations from Malaysia, Thailand, and Taiwan. …

- Successfully completing computer-related tasks such as programming, installing software, and applying information technology to work.

- Establishing training programs, courses, and certification tests for students attending the courses of the center in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training. The programs include basic and advanced information technology, English programs according to the university's output standards, soft skills programs, vocational skills programs, and programs to foster informatics, foreign languages, and other skills that satisfy learners' needs.

- Successfully completing student counseling duties assigned. Participating in writing scientific journals and yearbooks of the university. Attending forums and seminars on English teaching methods to broaden their horizons and improve their skills.

- Signing a joint training contract with IIG on the provision of TOEIC test services, cooperating more with other universities to integrate, gain experience and enhance the center's activities.

- Asking local authorities for permission to recruit foreign volunteers to teach English at the center.

- Successfully organizing English Clubs to make current students feel exalted and attract new students.

- Participating actively in university admissions activities.

- Contributing efforts to help flood victims, donating to the poor, participating in the "Green Summer" campaign launched by the University Union, sending final year English major students to remote areas to teach English, and supporting the University Study Promotion Association.

- Successfully completing other tasks assigned by the university leaders.

- Always strictly obeying the guidelines and policies of the Communist Party and the laws of the State.

5. DEVELOPMENT ORIENTATION

1. Center of Output Standard Training and Human Resources Development has been approved by the University Council and the Ministry of Education and Training to implement the project of organizing English proficiency tests according to the 6-level Foreign Language Competency Framework for Vietnamese people, organizing training courses for staff and students so as to satisfy the development and integration of NCTU as well as meet learners’ needs.

2. Opening classes in information technology, Basic English, English communication, and other skills to meet the needs of learners and the labor market.

3. Building a partnership program with a number of training centers for the TOEIC and IELTS.

4. Compiling English textbooks and lectures matching the Training Program and output standards of the English Language major

5. Improving soft skills and occupational skills programs to meet the increasing demands of the labor market and society.

6. Renovating English club activities to inspire students with the involvement of foreign lecturers.
