About the Automotive Mechanical Engineering

In the early years of the twenty-first century, humanity witnessed many big changes in the world, especially the rapid development of the modern Science and technology revolution, which is characterized by high-tech industries such as information technology, biotechnology, new material technology – nanotechnology, new energy technologies, aviation, and space technologies are having a profound impact on all areas of international life, economics, and politics, changing the face of the contemporary world. In that great development, the mechanical engineering industry played a fundamental role and had a presence in almost all socio-economic fields of the international community.

WHAT IS AUTOMOTIVE MECHANICAL ENGINEERING?

Automotive Mechanical Engineering is a science technology that applies the principles of physics, science, and engineering, materials, etc. to analyze, design, manufacture, and maintain all kinds of machine and mechanical systems, especially for automobiles and propulsion equipment. This discipline is also concerned with the design, manufacture, exploitation, and operation of machinery.

The field of Automotive Mechanical Engineering needs an understanding of core areas including mechanics, dynamics, thermodynamics, materials science, and analysis. In addition to these core areas, mechanical engineering also uses tools such as computer-aided design (CAD), design and analysis of manufacturing plants, industrial equipment and machinery, heating and refrigeration systems, transportation systems, etc. planes, ships, robots, and others.

TRAINING OBJECTIVES

Students of Automotive Mechanical Engineering from Nam Can Tho University will be equipped with:

About knowledge:

- Basic scientific knowledge: mathematics, physics, chemistry, computer science, English, calculation methods.

- Fundamental knowledge: characteristics, properties, calculations of forms of physical and chemical mathematics in practical conditions, related to majors (mechanics, heat, electricity, materials, hydraulics ...).

- Knowledge of using design software – simulation software: AutoCAD, Matlab, LabVIEW ...

- Knowledge of working principles, the structure of parts and systems of engines, chassis, electricity, automatic control systems, and comfort equipment. Knowledge of calculating separate systems constituting automotive electrical networks, and automatic control systems.

- Knowledge of the structure, functions of devices, management, and selection of equipment suitable for work in the workshop in the field of automotive, and automotive mechanics.

- Knowledge of analyzing and overcoming the causes of damage during vehicle operation. Knowledge of inspection, maintenance, repair, experiments in the field of engines and automobiles, and automotive mechanics.

About skills:

Professional expertise is trained into skills through practical subjects, projects, and graduation projects. Graduating in Automotive Mechanical Engineering, students have the following skills:

- Measuring skills using specialized mechanical measuring tools.

- Cold processing skills: processing and forming mechanical products by hand processing means such as planning, files, drills, or processing methods by machines such as lathes, milling machines, etc.

- Skills in building mechanical engineering drawings on computers using AutoCAD, Catia, Solidwork software, and Inventor software...
