A 5-YEAR ROAD WITH EXCELLENT ACHIEVEMENTS

 

The Research and Development Institute of Medicinal Plants at Nam Can Tho University was established on July 31, 2018, under Decision No. 75/QD-CTHĐQT-ĐHNCT with the function of researching and developing products from medicinal herbs to support disease prevention and treatment in order to improve human health and spiritual life.

The staffing structure involves:

With a usable area of ​​nearly 800 m2, in the multi-functional practice area of ​​the campus of Nam Can Tho University, the Research and Development Institute of Medicinal Plants is equipped with modern equipment imported from advanced countries around the world. World in order to serve the research and creation of products derived from medicinal herbs to prevent and support the treatment of diseases, improve human health, and improve the quality of life.

Since it was established, the Research and Development Institute of Medicinal Plants successfully conducted research on 04 products. At the same time, the Institute also made major achievements by participating in prizes for scientific research. The following are the achievements the Institute has recorded on the 5-year journey of establishing the Research and Development Institute of Medicinal Plants as well as 10 years of building and developing Nam Can Tho University.

- Completion of the acceptance test for 02 scientific research topics:

● Investigation of preparations that have the effect of supporting the treatment of gout disease from the mixed extracts (Cleistocalyx operculate buds, Perilla leaves, and Turmeric rhizomes) in accordance with Decision No. 238/QD-DHNCT dated April 16, 2019.

● Research on liver-protective preparations from mixed herbs (Acanthaceae, Polyscias fruticose leaves, Turmeric rhizomes) in the Mekong Delta according to Decision No. 239/QD-DHNCT dated April 16, 2019.

- Research and technology transfer, successful commercialization of 03 health food products that have been licensed by the Food Safety Department - Ministry of Health:

● Foods for health protection DNC GAN: Has the effect of supporting liver protection and detoxification; Helps improve liver function. Product advertisement No. 3879/2020/DKSP, dated May 4, 2020.

● Protecting Dietary Health DNC NAMCTGU: Helps to reduce uric acid in the blood; Helps to limit and reduce the risk of gout arthritis. Product advertisement No. 5053/2020/DKPS dated June 5, 2020.

● Foods for health protection DNC AN DUONG: Has the effect of supporting sugar metabolism; Helps decrease the risk of hyperglycemia. Product advertisement No. 2903/2020/DKSP dated May 3, 2022.

- Successful research and production of DNC hand sanitizer, approved by the Ho Chi Minh City Ministry of Health, published under number 002092/20/CBMP-HCM on May 29, 2020.

- Having the work that won the second prize of the Science and Technology Research Award for young lecturers in higher education institutions in 2021 awarded the Certificate of Merit by the Minister of Education and Training, Decision No. 4890/QD-BGDDT dated December 27, 2021. Project title: Research on preparations that support the treatment of gout from blended extracts (Cleistocalyx operculate buds, Perilla leaves, and Turmeric rhizomes).

- Having works that won the 2021 Consolation Prize for Scientific and Technological Research for Young Lecturers at Higher Education Institutions, Decision No. 715QDKT/TWDTN-VP dated December 31, 2021. Project title: Research on liver-protective preparations from mixed extracts (Acanthaceae, Polyscias fruticose leaves, and Turmeric rhizomes) in the Mekong Delta.

- There are three initiatives (the DNC GAN product, the DNC NAMCTGU product, the DNC Handwash soap hand sanitizer product, and the DNC dry hand sanitizer) approved by the Can Tho City People's Committee, which recognized the effectiveness of their application and scope of influence in the city and nationwide according to Decision No. 2740/QD-UBND dated August 12, 2022.

- Won the title of Excellent Labor Collective for 2 consecutive years in the academic year 2019 - 2020 and 2020 - 2021 of the grassroots emulation and commendation awarded by Nam Can Tho University, decision No. 825/QD-DHNCT dated 13 /10/2020 and No. 445/QD-ĐHNCT dated July 19, 2021.

- Researched and prepared more than 15,000 bottles of DNC hand sanitizer to donate to units, agencies, quarantine checkpoints in southwestern provinces and border areas, high schools, and other activities of the Union's young people (National High School Exam, gifts to disadvantaged families, etc.) during the complicated development of the COVID-19 epidemic in the past 2 years.

 

In the future, the Institute will continue to research and develop products derived from medicinal herbs to protect health with effects such as supporting to reduce of blood fat and reduce the risk of atherosclerosis; supporting the treatment of peptic ulcers, and protecting the gastric mucosa; support for the treatment of cough; Enhance vitality, etc. with product forms such as hard capsules, soft capsules, lozenges, tea bags, instant tea, etc.
