Health care is a very vital and required necessity, and as society is currently developing, this need is becoming more and more of a concern. There is a large human resource in the health industry to match the aforementioned need, which has created professional chances for those studying health straight after graduation.

According to the survey results on medical human resources serving people's health care in some countries, China had 22 doctors per ten thousand people, the US had 26 doctors per ten thousand people, and Australia had 38 doctors per ten thousand people. Thereby, it showed that the current health workforce in the Mekong Delta had not met the people's health care requirements well. The ratio of doctors per ten thousand people in the region was only about 4.8, which was very low compared to the whole country (the national average was 8.8 doctors per ten thousand people), and compared to the world. Most public health facilities have overloaded with patients. There are about 323 communes in the whole region without doctors who work at the medical station.

Nam Can Tho University (DNC) had put the mission of training high-quality human resources for society on the top, which constantly promotes the training of human resources in the health sector with sufficient medical ethics, in-depth knowledge of medicine, fluent foreign languages, ability to independently conduct scientific research, access to the application of scientific achievements towards the highest goal of comprehensive health care for the people of Can Tho City in particular and the Mekong Delta region in general.
