The student from Bac Lieu is Miss 2024 of Nam Can Tho University

The final and awarding-winning night of the "9th Miss DNC, 2024" contest was held on the evening of May 15, 2024, at Stage E of Nam Can Tho University.

The Nam Can Tho University organized a contest to celebrate the 93rd Anniversary of the founding of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (March 26, 1931 - March 26, 2024) and major holidays of the country. Mr. Nguyen Nhat Truong, Secretary of the Youth Union of Nam Can Tho University, shared that the competition aims to foster and promote the role and talent of students in literary, physical, and aesthetic activities. It also aims to honor the physical beauty, intelligence, and style of dynamic, modern, and youthful DNC students while still retaining the traditional elegance, grace, gentleness, and kindness inherent in Vietnamese women.

Miss DNC 2024 attracted 186 contestants to register to participate. After the preliminary and semi-final rounds, 25 contestants were selected by the Organizing Committee to compete in the final round.

Previously, during the final round, contestants took part in a variety of activities including Talented Beauty, Sports Beauty, Portrait Photography, and the DNC Fashion Show on April 24. They also engaged in social welfare activities such as supporting free medical examinations and providing medicine at Nam Can Tho University Hospital, visiting and giving gifts to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and individuals and families facing difficult circumstances in Ninh Kieu District, Binh Thuy District, and Phong Dien District in Can Tho City. Additionally, they participated in Red Sunday and showcased their eloquence in both Vietnamese and English.

The final night jury includes: Dang Hung, a beauty queen training expert; Designer Ta Linh Nhan, CEO of Dorii fashion company, and Member of the Executive Committee of the City Ao Dai Association in Ho Chi Minh City; Nguyen Tri Dat, a Member of the DNC Council and Chairman of the University Hospital Trade Union; Vo Thanh Trung (MSc), Deputy Director of Hue Central Hospital International Aesthetic Center, CEO and Executive Director of La Ratio Aesthetic Institute, and Director of DNC Aesthetic Center - La Ratio; Le Thi Tuong Vy, Miss DNC 2020, Miss Vietnamese Student 2020, and Top 10 Ao Dai beauty contestant in Miss Vietnam 2020; Doan Thien An, a contestant in the 2022 Miss Grand Vietnam pageant and Top 20 Miss Grand; Hoang Nhung, the runner-up in the Miss Universe Vietnam 2023 pageant; and Pham Ngoc Phuong Anh (MSc), the 1st runner-up in the Miss Vietnam 2020 pageant and Miss International Vietnam 2022.

In the final round, 25 contestants performed in Ao Dai, sports costumes, and evening gowns. The Organizing Committee then selected the top 10, top 5 (through a conduct competition to determine the top 3), and top 3 for a behavioral test in English.

Contestants won additional awards

Going through the exam content with convincing performances, especially the behavioral test in Vietnamese and English, candidate Nguyen Huynh Hai Lam, registration number 22, from Bac Lieu, is a 10th-course Law student at DNC, excellently won the Miss Nam Can Tho University 2024 pageant and received a reward of 50 million VND and other prizes from the organizers.

The 1st runner-up is Nguyen Hong Ngoc (a 10th-course English Language student). The title of the 2nd runner-up was awarded to Tran Thi My Huyen (a 9th-course Advanced Business Administration student). In addition, the organizers also presented 2 consolation prizes for the top 5 and 9 additional prizes.

Dr. Lawyer Nguyen Tien Dung, Chairman of Nam Can Tho University Council, stated that the winning candidates will have the opportunity to participate in community service projects and workshops after the contest. They will also receive scholarships to improve their English and information technology skills, as well as their soft skills. Additionally, they will receive a reduction in tuition and dormitory fees and will represent female students in talent and intelligence competitions at all levels.
