COURSE DESCRIPTION OF LOGISTICS SUPPLY CHAIN

 

Introductory State Law

The General State Law course provides basic knowledge about the state and law, introducing some basic legal provisions of legal fields in the legal system of Vietnam.

Fundamental Logics

This course provides knowledge of fundamental laws of logic to help learners gain a deep understanding of their own and others' ways of thinking and reasoning. From this, learners will develop the skills to identify and refute incorrect arguments, and timely fight for and contribute to the protection of justice and truth.

Introductory Psychology

The course aims to provide students with a broad introduction to the field of psychology and its basic concepts, and theories related to the understanding of human behaviors and mental processes. This knowledge will help students evaluate psychological claims and assumptions in popular media.

Basic Informatics

This course equips students with basic knowledge of the Windows 7 operating system, the Windows Explorer management tool, Vietnamese typing tools in Windows, Microsoft Word (MS Word) editing tool, basic operations in MS Word, text formatting, basic image editing, table operations, formatting and printing in Word, and some advanced features of MS Word. The course also provides an overview of Microsoft Excel (MS Excel), basic operations in Excel, some basic functions in Excel, basic operations on a database using Excel, creating charts in Excel, formatting, and printing in Excel, some concepts and operations in MS PowerPoint, and knowledge of using the Internet and email.

Probability and Statistics

The course content consists of two parts: Probability and Statistics:

- The probability section provides students with knowledge about random trials, events, probability of events, methods of calculating probability, random quantities, probability distributions, characteristics of random quantity, and some of the distributions commonly encountered in practice.

- The statistics section introduces students to the basic problems of statistics and how to solve estimation problems, hypothesis testing, and linear regression problems.

Applied Statistics

SPSS (Statistic Package for Social Science) is a professional, flexible, versatile, and very powerful database management and statistical analysis and processing software compared to other statistical processing software such as Lotus, Quattro, Excel, Stata, Epiinfo…; it is more widely used in the research, processing, and analysis of statistical data, especially for the data analysis processing of surveys using questionnaires. SPSS is very strong in analyzing the correlation between the criteria of things and phenomena that other software is difficult or impossible to do. It helps researchers to analyze development trends of phenomena and things through statistics, thereby making predictions in research. SPSS for Windows is user-friendly and easy to link to get data, or export results to other application software such as Excel, and Access.

Calculus 1

The module provides concepts about:

- Matrix, operations on matrices, ladder matrix, the rank of the matrix, and inverse matrix;

- Deterministic concepts, determinants calculation methods, and applications of determinants;

- The concept of a system of linear equations and solutions;

- Concepts of functions, limits, continuity, derivatives, and differentials;

- Apply the above knowledge to solve some real word problems.

Microeconomics

The course equips students with fundamental knowledge about consumer and business decisions about the use of scarce resources, the laws of demand and supply, the workings of markets in balancing supply and demand, the elasticity of the use of goods and services, characteristics of firms' production costs, and firm decisions in competitive and monopolistic markets.

Macroeconomics

The course equips students with basic concepts, formulas, and how to use formulas to calculate important macroeconomic indicators of the economy. The module also provides students with knowledge about economic equations, economic models, and how to analyze their movements and interactions in the economy in the long run. Finally, students have access to basic economic models to analyze the causes of fluctuations in the economy in the short run.

Principles of Marketing

This course provides the most basic knowledge about marketing, the importance of marketing in businesses, trends of marketing in the global environment, and information about marketing, grasping the knowledge of marketing, and biology. Students can segment markets, identify target markets and product positioning, and analyze customer behavior. The course also helps learners to grasp the 4 important mixes in analyzing and building a marketing mix strategy including product, price, distribution, and promotion.

Mathematical Economics

This module is a foundation course for all undergraduate students and is intended to introduce some of the basic math methods widely used in specialized subjects. The content of the module includes determinants; matrix, the system of linear equations; functions of many variables, differential calculus of functions of many variables, extrema of functions of many variables, differential equations of the first order, and differential equations of order 2.

Principles of Management

The course provides basic knowledge about management, management concepts, and the necessary skills of managers. The course also deals with the history of the birth and development of management theories; the introduction to the operating environment factors of an organization. In addition, the course also provides learners with the communication and management process, as a foundation for the application and study of further professional subjects in the field of business economics.

Logistics Management

Logistics management is considered an essential part of supply chain management, which focuses on planning, implementing, and controlling the plan for the efficient flow of goods, services, and information. reasonable. In addition, the starting point, ending point and all related channels in the supply chain system also need to be controlled smoothly thanks to the good organization and synchronous operation of logistics activities, helping products reach consumers in the fastest time, at the lowest cost, and using the fewest resources. Supply Chain Management

The module introduces students to the purpose, general principles, career opportunities, and their relation to other functions of the business. Students will understand the role of supply chain management and its impact on a company's competitiveness is an important part of being in business. Supply chain management is strategically oriented and recognizes that a company's competitive strength is determined not only by its products but also by the activities that place products in the hands of customers and provide support services. Effective supply chain management enhances company performance and increases value by increasing asset utilization to gain a competitive market advantage. A company's ability to effectively respond to its supply chain arising from design and management is integral to a company's ability to compete and succeed in the global marketplace.

Operations Management

The course is designed to help students gain the full knowledge from basic to advanced according to the latest updated trends to manage and operate a production system in particular as well as to operate a business in general. At the same time, equipping skills and tools to support production planning and operation in companies and enterprises, especially in multinational companies in the field of industrial production or services. The module also includes content on designing and improving production processes to reduce costs, improve labor productivity and competitiveness, and help form and operate businesses professionally.

Quality Management

This module studies the basic concepts related to quality, quality management, and their importance in the economy. The module presents quality assessment methods, management standards, and tools for quality control, assurance, and improvement. Students will study the basic of total quality management: ISO 9000:2005, ISO 9001:2008, and other sets of standards and guide their application to organizations and enterprises. The course will have practical lessons in building and applying the quality management system of Vietnamese enterprises in recent years.

Strategic Management

Strategic management focuses on identifying the superior resources that bring efficiency to the company. Students can have useful theoretical frameworks and concepts for analyzing a company's external and internal environments and formulating and implementing different types of business strategies. Strategic issues are considered from the perspective of an executive or general manager, focusing on how to formulate effective strategies and develop the resources and capabilities needed to achieve them. This course will provide knowledge of international trade theories and how to apply those concepts to analyze the issues of international trade. Based on this subject, students can analyze trade policies and their application to policy research, and social welfare. This course will present theories of trade and economic models, the relationship between countries, economies, and economic regions in the world, the problems of the distribution and the use of resources between economies through the exchange of goods, services, factors of production, currency conversion and payments between countries. Global Procurement Management

The module provides the knowledge to help students grasp strategies in global purchasing management and its influence on the success and failure variables of projects. The module also develops procurement skills and processes that can reduce administrative delays, and help students have a better understanding of the role of management in managing global purchasing activities. The course will focus on analyzing purchasing activities in order to reduce investment costs to promote profits for businesses.

Business Research Methods

The course helps students gain an understanding of conducting scientific research. The first part of the module presents an overview of scientific research, how to formulate research problems, and research design in business. The next section will focus on research measurements, sampling methods, data collection, and data analysis. Finally, an introductory course on how to develop a research proposal and how to write and present a scientific research report in the field of business.

International Business Management

The module includes the concepts, history, and development of international business, as the factors in the international environment that affect international business activities of enterprises. Students will know some strategies, policies, and aspects of international business activities which help businesses compete effectively in the globalized environment and international economic integration. The problems that managers working in the international business environment face every day and some experience in solving situations in international business of multinational companies.

Marketing Management

Marketing Management is a subject that provides knowledge about the process of analyzing marketing strategies: from analyzing the marketing environment, competitors, and market segmentation, to devising strategies for product development, product positioning, and product management. The course also provides methods for managing distribution channels, integrated marketing communication channels, and methods of evaluating, controlling, and adjusting marketing activities.

International Marketing

This module provides basic concepts, tools, and methods of market analysis which are necessary to understand the advantages and disadvantages of marketing products and services in the international market. It will identify and articulate international market entry strategies, describe specific marketing activities in the marketing mix, recognize the basic structure of a marketing plan for a particular country in the international market, design an appropriate marketing plan for a country of interest, analyze daily life issues related to international marketing (such as analyzing marketing activities of foreign companies in Vietnam or of Vietnamese companies in foreign markets).

E-commerce

The module provides basic knowledge about e-commerce, business models, profit models, and business processes; identifies opportunities of e-commerce; the main aspects of e-commerce; knowledge of selling on a website, profit models, and web interface building; Marketing on the web; B2B strategy model from EDI to EC, auction concepts, virtual community, and web portal; Students will know more about the concepts of the e-commerce environment, legal, ethical and tax issues. The course provides integrated methods of e-commerce planning in business; e-commerce website development strategies; e-commerce project implementation management.

Entrepreneurship

The content of the course focuses on the general knowledge of starting a business, assessing opportunities, and business potential, and starting a business plan.

Management Information System

After completing the course, students will be provided with basic knowledge of business information systems. It helps students have an overview of information systems in enterprises and they can design an effective information system to serve businesses.

International Investment

In this course, students will be able to apply knowledge from International Investment to conduct financial strategic planning for each stage of development, risk assessment, and valuation of investment assets.

  • Understand, state, and explain the basic concepts of interest rates, risks, and investment assets in the market. Determining the role of policy, the impact of exchange rate factors on investment activities;

Foreign Trade Operation

The course aims to equip students with practical knowledge, management of international trade, transaction methods in international trade, import and export activities in enterprises, and issues on international trade, scientifically based on 3 main parts: Theory of international trade; International trade policy, and International finance.

International Payments

The module introduces students to a deep knowledge of foreign trade contracts, Incoterms, how to issue and circulate payment instruments, and how to implement international payment methods. In addition, students are also introduced to the knowledge of documentation in payment, practice checking documents, and handling dispute situations arising in international commercial transactions and services, specializing in exchange rates, and foreign currency trading operations; at the same time, applying fundamental and technical analysis methods and trading strategies in the foreign exchange market.

Sustainable Supply Chain

This module is designed to help students gain the full knowledge from basic to advanced according to the latest updated trends to operate a sustainable supply chain, while equipping them with skills, and knowledge to analyze the benefits and importance of adopting a sustainable supply chain. The module also covers the design and operation of logistics activities in a sustainable way to save costs, improve competitiveness and create brand value for businesses.

Project design 1

Module Design Project 1 plays an important role (as the above goal) in supporting students to meet international standards CDIO [Conceive – Design – Implement – ​​Operate: Conceptualization – Concept Design – Implementation implementation of ideas - Operation] in education and training, ensuring the output standards prescribed by the school, and at the same time meeting the high skill requirements of the labor market.

Project design 2

With the guidance of the instructor, students determine their level of autonomy in the process of fulfilling their individual and team member responsibilities.

Students seek information to support the existence of the problem, the need to solve the problem, find out the current solutions to the problem, analyze the causes of the problem, and establish indicators.
