THE REPRESENTATIVES OF NAM CAN THO UNIVERSITY VISIT AND PRESENT WITH GIFTS FOR PEOPLE SUFFERING FROM FLOOD IN QUANG BINH PROVINCE

        According to statistics, the historic flood in this year caused devastating damage to people populating in provinces in the Middle of Vietnam, especially in Quang Binh. Estimating to October 15^th, there were 9 dead people, 8 missing people, 13 injured omes, 71.192 houses under water, 59 houses with flown-away roofs. In Quang Binh in particular, dead and missing poultry and pigs were 43.800 and 103 respectively, 297 hectares of raising and planting maritime products were lost, 239 tons of rice were wet. In addition, due to the impact of storms, many routes and center lines within the province or the ones connected with other neighboring provinces were mostly under deep water, suffered from a massive landslide, were cut and completely paralyzed, causing difficulties to people’s living activities and the act of salvage.

        It can be said that, some time ago, in order to solve the problem of marine environment caused by Fomosa, although Quang Binh Province faced many difficulties, now people here have to fight against disadvantages from flood and rain, which makes the problem more serious. Therefore, as an urgent case, these people are in desperate need of shares and help from others in our country. As a result, in order to support the people in the Middle of Vietnam in general, and the ones in Quang Binh in detail, on November 3^rd, the representatives of Nam Can Tho University took a trip to visit and present with gifts to the SOS Village of children in Dong Hoi, the people in 2 communes of Truong Xuan and Hien Ninh in Quang Ninh District, Quang Binh Province with the total expenditure of support reached to nearly 60 million VND donated by the whole officers, staff, as well as the students of Nam Can Tho University. In there, 10 million VND in cash, the gifts, and over 100 portions of support to the families in the two communes of Truong Xuan, and Hien Ninh, with each portion valued from 300.000 VND to 500.000 VND, are presented to the leaders of the village.

        Although the supportive portions are not plentiful, with the enthusiasm called “Love me-love you”, “Fine leaves cover the poor ones”, “Together with the country, looking towards the lovely Middle of Vietnam”, these gifts will help instill positive energy into the people to overcome difficulties and stabilize their lives.
