Nam Can Tho University organized the workshop "Developing the model of businesses in universities”

Nam Can Tho University in collaboration with Saigon Economic Times organized the workshop "Developing the model of businesses in universities" in the morning of July 30, 2020, at Hall E2 of DNC multifunctional practice area in order to help this model reach practical and sustainable development as well as catch up with current training trends.

Labor hero. People’s teacher. Prof. - Dr. Vo Tong Xuan - Rector of NCTU had the opening speech of the workshop. He said that in Vietnam the way of education and training mostly stopped at the level of understanding in the classification graph of teaching and learning objectives of Bloom and Krathwohl. Students were taught to take high scores at high schools, but they did not know where to apply their knowledge. Vocational training systems and universities have quite more hours or periods of practice with the least standards . Meanwhile the employers have the demand for those who are trained to the last level of the graph, "creative" level.

The first session of the seminar had 05 speeches around the aspects of the model of businesses in universities including businesses in universities, interaction with training activities, developing links between businesses in universities, universities with outside businesses in human resource training, linking training with business needs from the reality or tourism business model at DNC, ... Nam Can Tho University is one of the pioneers promoting the implementation of the model of businesses in universities to contribute to fundamental and comprehensive innovation of education .

The second session was the discussion of experts on the model of businesses in universities. A lot of questions as well as suggestions and measures for this practical model were presented. MSc Nguyen Du Ha Long, representative of the Board of Directors of Nam Can Tho Trading One Member Company Limited gave the answer to the question that DNC had a tourism business model in campus, restaurants and hotels, how NCTU solves problems occurring from the lack of quality in students’ internship and practice activities or the suggestion of expanding the market for DNC's products in the future from Mr. Doan Huynh Duy Khuong - CEO of DHG Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company.

Dr. Vo Tong Xuan - Rector of Nam Can Tho University and Mr. Tran Minh Hung - Editor-in-Chief of Saigon Times chaired the workshop.

MSc. Nguyen Du Ha Long - Director of the Center for Tourism and Entrepreneurship Development,
represented the Board of Directors of Nam Can Tho Trading Company limited in the workshop.

NCTU has established our businesses which are South Vietnam Group, South Can Tho General Hospital Company Limited, DNC Southern Trading Company Limited, The Institute for Research and Development of Medicinal Materials. These institutions conduct business activities and provide practical training and internships for all NCTU students. This is a long-term strategy and very suitable for the current policy of reforming education and training .

After more than 7 years (January 25, 2013 - January 25, 2020) of construction and development Nam Can Tho University has stabilized operating apparatus and enhanced facilities, equipment, modern practice laboratories, electronic libraries, computer labs, teaching and learning materials for training and scientific research with more than 12,000 students and about 3,000 graduates so that DNC can provide Can Tho city and the Mekong Delta region qualified human resources .
